Porque el amor manda (literal translation Because Love Commands but known in English speaking marketings as Love Rules) is a 2012 Mexican telenovela produced by Juan Osorio for Televisa. It is a remake of the Colombian telenovela El secretario, produced by Juan Andrés Flórez in 2011.^[2] Fernando Colunga and Blanca Soto star as the protagonists.^[3][4] Claudia Álvarez and Erick Elías star as the antagonists.

Production of Porque el amor manda officially started on August 13, 2012.^[5] As of October 8, 2012, Canal de las Estrellas is broadcasting Porque el amor manda, replacing Por Ella Soy Eva.^[6][7] Libre para amarte will be broadcast after Porque el amor manda concludes.^[8]

As of March 11, 2013, Univision is broadcasting Porque el amor manda weeknights at 8pm/7c, replacing Por Ella Soy Eva.^[9]

Synopsis [edit]

Jesús García (Fernando Colunga) is a young man born in Monterrey, Nuevo León in México. After a difficult relationship with his former girlfriend, Veronica Hierro (Claudia Álvarez), he decides to go to Chicago. After seven years, Jesús works as a pizza delivery and waiter in a restaurant. He also expects to obtain legal residency in the country. At night, Jesús studies accounting. One day he discovers he has a daughter named Valentina (María José Mariscal) with his ex-girlfriend Verónica, which was born after moving to the United States. Therefore, he came back to Monterrey helped by the criminal Ury Pretovsky, whom he met in an incident when going to deliver pizzas. Ury says he can give him free plane ticket to Monterrey with the condition of carrying a suitcase with clothes for an orphanage. Jesús accepts the condition. However, at the airport, the customs authority detects something odd in the case that Ury gave him. Hidden in the suitcase, Jesús took more than $10,000 which is why he was handcuffed. He tries to prove his innocence claiming he was paid only to bring the case in exchange for a plane ticket. Willing to collaborate with justice, in exchange for his freedom and does, provide Ury's data and gets out in custody and unable to avoid the stain of a criminal record. Jesús, on probation, comes to Verónica's house to meet his daughter. Verónica confronts Jesús and warns him that if he wants to see his daughter has to fulfill his obligations. She required him to have a job and a place to live. Jesús accepts these impositions and immediately, seek employment in the city. Unfortunately, the criminal record is an impediment for him and it is rejected from everywhere. He reaches the Avon Company looking for an Assistant Accountant work and meet Ms. Alma Montemayor (Blanca Soto), company executive, whom he rescues from an accident. Without knowing Jesus and Alma and works together in Avon.Jesus does not know that the post is secretary and accepted. Now, Jesus must deal with the teasing of their peers, their boss, Mr. Fernando Rivadeneira (Alejandro Ávila) and, especially, the president of Avon Rogelio Rivadeneira (Erick Elías), brother of Fernando and Alma promised. Yet Jesús will live unforgettable experiences, several comic events and finds love with Alma and everything that happens will Because Love Commands.
